Jeff Lynne : Broad Street Walk of Stars, City Library, Birmingham, U.K. - 13th March 2014
I was so very fortunate to attend Jeff Lynne's Broad Street Walk Of Stars award ceremony at Birmingham Library on 13th March. I was sat front row just feet from Jasper Carrott (the host) and Jeff Lynne. It was a very interesting event, starting with comments from Jasper, a 15 minute video highlighting Jeff's career, followed by almost an hour of chat between Jasper and Jeff. Following this Jeff received his award from the Mayor of Birmingham. Then it was time for a few drinks and snacks chatting among the 150+ people attending. Many famous Brum-related stars were there including Roy Wood, Dave Morgan, Richard Tandy, all members of the Idle Race, former footballer Trevor Francis and football manager Alex MacLeish. Also spotted among the audience was Canadian rocker Bryan Adams and Pugwash main-man Thomas Walsh. It was also amazing to see fans from Germany, Denmark, Norway, Spain and even Ecuador. What a great evening and so pleased to see Jeff Lynne recognised by his home city.
