Quill ft Bev Bevan : The Robin, Bilston, U.K. - 12th October 2023
What a fantastic gig by Quill ft Bev Bevan at The Robin, Bilston on Thursday 12th October. The band were very nervous prior to the gig as this was their first live gig in two years and with a slightly different line-up. But they need not have worried as the audience lapped up a fine performance.
Such a wide selection of songs and styles were performed throughout with some of my favourites being 'Say It Ain't So Joe' (Murray Head), The Whole Of The Moon' (The Waterboys), 'Telephone Line' (ELO), 'Flowers In The Rain' (The Move), 'Blackberry Way' (The Move), 'Go Now' (Moody Blues), 'The Day We Caught The Train' (Ocean Colour Scene), 'Ordinary World' (Duran Duran), 'How Does It Feel' (Slade) and 'Don't Bring Me Down' (ELO) but all other songs were excellent too.
Lovely to spend time with friends some of whom we had not seen in person for a number of years, and also nice to spend time and chat with Ace Kefford (original member of The Move), Joy, Bev, Jo and Phil Bates (both former members of Quill).
A night to remember and I highly recommend music fans to get to one of the upcoming shows on this tour.
Band line-up : Joy Strachan-Brain, Bev Bevan, Abby Brant, Kate McWilliam, Phil Tree and Lee Evans.

Phil Bates 'Up Close & Personal' : Old Bank House, Tamworth, U.K. - 23rd September 2023
What a wonderful live show by Phil Bates on his return to Tamworth for the first show of his new 'Up Close & Personal' solo tour which will be touring throughout the remainder of 2023 through to 2025. Full details of future dates can be found on the Gigs page and the Official Facebook page.
This first show was very well attended and was held in the outside courtyard of the Old Bank House on a chilly September evening. Phil performed many of his own unique acoustic reworkings from his personal back catalogue, new songs, a couple of cover songs plus classic ELO, ELO Part 2 and Beatles tunes too. Highly recommend any music fan to catch this show.
